Dear colleagues,
It is my great pleasure to welcome you to the annual congress of the Croatian Thoracic Society, TORAKS 2026. For the sixteenth consecutive year, we are bringing together a large number of healthcare professionals dedicated to the care of patients with respiratory diseases, providing an opportunity to exchange the latest scientific knowledge and professional expertise over four days. As medicine continues to advance at a remarkable pace, the need for a multidisciplinary approach to the management of thoracic diseases is becoming increasingly evident. The congress is therefore designed to bring together not only pulmonologists, but also radiologists, surgeons, cytologists, pathologists, microbiologists, basic scientists, pharmacists, and family medicine physicians. Of course, patient care would not be complete without nurses, which is why a dedicated part of the program is specifically focused on nursing.
Today, TORAKS is recognized as an important meeting point for experts committed to improving the diagnosis and treatment of respiratory diseases—a platform that connects science, technology, and everyday clinical practice. This year’s program places particular emphasis on early diagnosis, as well as on the development and application of artificial intelligence and robotics.
We believe that the congress will offer valuable topics, enrich your knowledge, provide opportunities to exchange experiences, and foster new scientific and professional collaborations.
Academician Miroslav Samaržija
President of the Croatian Thoracic Society
